Rachel Carpenter has worked at Pace University since June 2010. As of August 1, 2019 she serves as the Associate Vice President & Dean for Students on the Pleasantville campus.
Growing up in a US Navy family, Carpenter spent most of her life living overseas. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies/Japanese and a Master of Science in Public Services Administration from the University of Evansville. She worked at the University of Evansville as an area coordinator in residential life. Carpenter then served as Dean of Students at Harlaxton College – a study abroad campus in the United Kingdom. She returned to the US as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the Center for Student Engagement at the University of Evansville.
Carpenter moved to New York in 2010 to work at Pace University as the Director of Student Development & Campus Activities and soon after added the Assistant Dean of Assessment & Planning to her responsibilities. Carpenter is currently working on her dissertation which focuses on interpersonal relationships, emotions, affect, and team dynamics.
As a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach, she enjoys helping others identify and build upon their strengths in personal and professional settings. When she is not at the university, Carpenter enjoys backpacking, travel, and outdoor experiences.\
